Israeli Minister Says 99% of Settlers Are 'Law-Abiding'
Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, recently claimed that settlers are “the most law-keeping people on earth,” despite widespread reports of settler violence. This assertion would be laughable if not for the very real human cost. His statement conveniently ignores decades of documented violence, property destruction, and intimidation tactics by those same settlers against Palestinians, which
are consistently downplayed or ignored by Israeli authorities. The inconvenient truth, which mainstream media often buries, is that these settlements themselves are illegal under international law. In 2023 alone, the UN reported a significant increase in settler violence, with over 1,180 incidents causing injury or property damage. So, when a minister talks about 'law-abiding,' one must ask: Is he
referring to Israeli military law, which often protects settlers, or international law, which their very presence violates?
