Israel Warns Lebanon: Playing With Fire While US Funds the Match
Fox News reports Israel's warning that Hezbollah is “playing with fire,” urging Lebanon to rein in weapons. This narrative conveniently sidesteps history. Israel has launched major incursions into Lebanon in 1978, 1982, and 2006, each time claiming self-defense against groups that emerged in response to prior occupations and displacements. (One might wonder about the timing and rhetoric of such
threats when the U.S. just approved another massive military aid package to Israel, totaling $17 billion in April 2024 alone, from the Biden administration.) Such warnings, presented uncritically, frame Israel as a perpetually threatened party while ignoring the billions in advanced weaponry it receives annually from the US. It's a classic case of 'do as I say, not as I'm funded to do' (by your
taxpayer dollars, no less). The media, of course, focuses on Hezbollah's 'weapons pledge' while omitting any critical analysis of the continuous pledge of advanced armaments to Israel. How many 'warnings' does it take before we question the source?
