Israel 'Threatens' Ceasefire with More Threats of War
The New Arab reports Israel's defense minister threatening to 'resume the war' over unreturned captives. This is, of course, presented as a rational reaction, not a policy of perpetual siege weaponized by 'negotiations'. It's the same playbook Netanyahu has deployed for decades, from the pre-Oslo saber-rattling to the intermittent bombings of Gaza in 2008, 2012, 2014, and 2021—each framed as a
'response' rather than an ongoing occupation. One might wonder how many 'ceasefires' can be broken before they're just called 'pauses.' Meanwhile, the US media scrambles to legitimize this 'threat' as a negotiating tactic. This cyclical violence, repackaged as 'self-defense,' conveniently distracts from the $3.8 billion in annual U.S. military aid (public record, F.Y. 2023) that props up this
particular brand of 'negotiation.' How many times does a besieged populace need to be threatened with 'resumption' of hostilities before the world calls the whole thing what it is: an open-air prison under constant threat of full demolition? The humanitarian crisis continues, but hey, at least we're 'negotiating.' (With heavy artillery in the background, naturally.)
