One might call that a 'truce' with the same straight face used to describe a shark-infested swimming pool as 'calm waters.' Mainstream outlets, however, prefer 'clashes' or 'escalations,' carefully avoiding the term 'invasion' which, for some reason, seems reserved exclusively for non-allies of Washington.
This isn't a new strategy. Since its 1978 invasion and decades of occupation in southern Lebanon, Israel has consistently disregarded international borders and UN resolutions. This pattern of aggressive, unchecked incursions is rarely framed as a breach of international law, but rather as 'security operations.' Washington, conveniently, provides billions in military aid—over $3.8 billion annually,
as confirmed by the Congressional Research Service—ensuring these 'operations' are well-funded. How many 'truce' violations does it take before the world stops calling it self-defense?
