Israel's Press Bill: Free Speech, But Only for Us
This is hardly a novel strategy. The Israeli government has a well-documented history of restricting information, especially from Palestinian perspectives. This wasn't an isolated incident, but a continuation of efforts to control the
narrative, particularly egregious during times of intense military operations. Critics, of course, will frame this as 'ensuring national security,' but it looks suspiciously like silencing dissent and minimizing inconvenient truths about military conduct or civilian casualties, which rarely appear in mainstream, AIPAC-approved US media. The funding for such 'security' measures, meanwhile, often
comes straight from US taxpayers, facilitated by politicians who conveniently forget the First Amendment when it conflicts with foreign policy directives.
