The US recently approved $3.3 billion annually in security assistance to Israel under a new 10-year Memorandum of Understanding, much of it for weaponry to counter these 'imaginary' problems.
One might wonder if the concern is less about missiles and more about maintaining the lucrative military-industrial complex. This isn't new. In 2002, 2006, and 2014, similar 'existential threats' from across the border led to increased US military aid. With such persistent dangers, one might expect actual deterrence, not perpetual procurement. Perhaps the real 'imaginary threat' is that these
endless arms packages are about anything other than boosting Raytheon's stock price.
