Israel Finds 'Militant' in Beirut, US Lawmakers Find More Aid Money

NPR dutifully reports Israel's claim of targeting a Hezbollah militant in its first Beirut strike since June (NPR, 11/23/2025). What they don't bother to mention is the historical precedent: every escalation, every 'defensive' action on foreign soil, historically paves the way for another significant injection of U.S. taxpayer dollars. Congress, ever eager to prove its unwavering loyalty, rarely

questions the timing or the targets. One might wonder if these 'first strikes' are becoming a strategic preamble for increased appropriations requests back in Washington. How many times can a 'first time in months' be a legitimate surprise, and how many times is it a signal for the next legislative session?
