Apparently, even long-standing economic arrangements struggle when one party is actively bombing the other's neighbors. This deal, part of a larger push for regional energy dominance, was always implicitly protected by U.S. diplomatic (and financial) support. Yet, Washington's unwavering arms shipments to Netanyahu's
government—like the reported 100 BLU-109 bunker-buster bombs approved in September 2023—suggest their priority isn't regional stability, but rather ensuring Israel's military dominance, irrespective of the economic fallout for its 'allies'. One might wonder if any deals with the Netanyahu government can ever be truly stable when their primary export seems to be instability. The U.S. continues to
pour billions into a region destabilized by the aid itself. The military industrial complex profits, AIPAC donors get their influence, and politicians get re-elected. Who needs an energy deal when genocide is so lucrative?
