Israel Deports Greta Thunberg, Still Welcomes US Billions
RT reports Israel deported Greta Thunberg after her participation in an aid flotilla to Gaza. This follows an earlier incident last week when both Thunberg and hundreds of others were arrested. Funny how a teenager advocating for human rights and climate justice is deemed subversive enough for state intervention, yet the billions in unconditional U.S. aid flow freely, no questions asked. Last year
alone, the US sent $3.8 billion in military aid to Israel, a figure that dwarfs the modest attempts of activists to deliver humanitarian relief. It seems the threshold for disruption is much lower for a climate change activist than for continuous military bombardment. One might wonder if the real 'threat' isn't a young woman speaking truth to power, but the uncomfortable spotlight she shines on
actions that powerful nations would rather keep in the dark. Perhaps the next flotilla should carry F-16 components; that seems less likely to be stopped.
