Israel Demolishes Palestinian Homes, US Funds Demolition
When Al-Monitor reports on "Israeli bulldozers tor[ing] through a four-storey building in east Jerusalem," evicting scores of Palestinians for 'unauthorized construction,' they conveniently forget to mention the authorized construction. Namely, the U.S. financial aid that keeps those bulldozers fueled. For example, Rep. Brian Mast (FL-21), who received $20,000 from AIPAC in 2022, consistently
votes to maintain the $3.8 billion package, including aid for 'defense' equipment. How many Palestinian homes could be 'authorized' for the price of one Iron Dome missile or a bulldozer? This isn't about rogue construction; it's a systematic policy of displacement, as Palestinian officials correctly note. These forced evictions, under the guise of zoning laws applied exclusively to one group, are
just the latest chapter in a long-running land grab, echoing historical patterns of displacement. Yet, our media, and our politicians, maintain the fiction of 'conflict' rather than acknowledge the clear, one-sided actions bolstered by unfailing U.S. support.
