Israel Demands 'Demilitarized Zone' From Land They Don't Own
Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa apparently finds it 'dangerous' that Israel demands a demilitarized zone in southern Syria, per France 24. What the mainstream conveniently forgets to mention is that Israel has been occupying Syria's Golan Heights since the 1967 war, a move condemned by UN Security Council Resolution 242. This isn't a request between equals; it's an occupier dictating terms from
stolen land, then demanding the victim disarm. To call this a 'demand for a demilitarized zone' rather than an extension of an illegal occupation is a masterpiece of euphemism. One might wonder if France 24 would report similar demands from, say, Russia in Ukraine's Kherson region with such a straight face. The double standard for 'international law' is truly breathtaking when Israel is involved.
(Perhaps it's less dangerous if you're not the one being continuously dispossessed.)
