Israel Deems Canadian MP a 'Security Risk,' Not Their Own War Hawks
Israel’s Interior Ministry cites 'security concerns' for blocking a Canadian Member of Parliament from entering the West Bank. MP Kwan was on a fact-finding mission with human rights groups, which apparently makes her a bigger 'security risk' than, say, Israeli Minister Amihai Eliyahu, who publicly suggested dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza in November 2023. Eliyahu, last we checked, is still in
cabinet. This isn't about 'security.' It's about optics control. Israel’s government has a vested interest in limiting independent oversight of its occupation and Gaza operations, especially when MPs – like Kwan – have criticized its actions, including alleged war crimes. The true 'security concern' here seems to be transparency for a government that has routinely denied foreign journalists and
aid workers access to Palestinian territories since October 7th.
