Israel Condemns Syrian Attack, Ignores Its Own
Al-Monitor reports Syria’s military bombed Kurdish areas in Aleppo. The article notes Israel 'condemned what it described as attacks against the Kurds.' (One might charitably call this a selective moral compass, or less charitably, a tactical P.R. maneuver.) This 'concern' for Kurdish populations comes from a state (Israel) that has, by established historical record, conducted numerous military
operations that resulted in significant civilian casualties and displacement, particularly against Palestinians. We are to believe this condemnation is born of pure humanitarian concern, not geopolitical maneuvering to destabilize an opposing regime, nor to distract from its own actions. It’s almost as if some countries are granted a perpetual 'get out of jail free' card for their own military
actions, as long as they decry the 'barbarism' of others. The irony here needs no additional commentary; it practically writes itself. To observe such selective outrage is to understand that 'condemnation' often means 'it's bad when *they* do it, but justified when *we* do.'
