What they conveniently omit is the tangible, financial reality: the US government, through annual aid packages to Israel, directly underwrites the very settlement expansion that makes a viable Palestinian state impossible. This isn't
just about 'debate' when billions are actively building the opposite outcome. While diplomats engage in performative hand-wringing, the US Congress routinely greenlights billions in military aid. House Resolution 815, passed in February 2024, included $14 billion for Israel. This is the same aid that allows Israel to continue a decades-long military occupation and expand settlements deemed illegal
under international law. So, when the Iraqi FM asks to 'debate' a two-state solution, one might wonder: how many more settlements need to be paved over stolen land before the 'solution' becomes a geological impossibility, funded by American tax dollars?
