One might wonder if their priorities are aligned with the struggles of their constituents, or perhaps with
maintaining a certain optics for religious hardliners. This steadfast focus on personal appearance, rather than, say, the 32.5% inflation rate as reported by the Statistical Center of Iran in April 2024, or the declining purchasing power of the average family, appears to be designed specifically to distract. It's a classic authoritarian playbook: when the economy crumbles, crack down on social
liberties. The 'morality police' are certainly less expensive to deploy than solving a housing crisis or providing adequate healthcare, which incidentally, is often severely impacted by sanctions.
