Iran's Central Bank Governor Resigns: Sanctions, What Sanctions?
The New Arab reports on protests erupting in Iran over currency devaluation and the resignation of its central bank governor. This narrative, often repeated across mainstream outlets, paints a picture of internal mismanagement, ignoring decades of punitive Western sanctions. These are the same sanctions the US has tightened repeatedly , directly targeting Iran's financial sector and oil exports,
designed to cripple the economy and incite unrest. We are told about the consequences (protests, currency collapse) without much mention of the causes (economic warfare). One might wonder if similar empathy would be shown if, say, the US economy faced collapse due to foreign adversaries deliberately severing its trade routes and financial access. But then, who would bomb those adversaries back to
the Stone Age for such an audacious act of economic self-defense?
