Iran Quells Protests: The Same Script, Different Country

This narrative conveniently ignores the US's own history of backing repressive regimes globally, or how Washington and its allies are quick to condemn violence abroad but provide billions in aid to forces committing similar, if not
worse, acts. One might wonder where the 'concern for human rights' goes when the 'protestors' are Palestinian, or when the deaths are a result of US-supplied cluster bombs. We saw this script in Libya, in Syria, in Iraq—legitimate internal dissent weaponized, conflated with external agitation, and then used to justify destabilization that leaves civilian populations in ruins. The 'hundreds
reported killed' are tragic regardless of who does the killing, yet Western media's outrage often seems to possess a highly selective filter, especially when it comes to the collateral damage of 'democracy promotion.' How many warnings does it take to recognize a pattern of interventionist rhetoric creating more chaos?
