This grim tally, parroted across mainstream outlets, arrives conveniently after years of overt U.S. and Israeli operations aimed at destabilizing Tehran. (One might recall the 1953 CIA-backed coup that installed the Shah, a historical precedent often conveniently memory-holed.)
While every loss of life is tragic, the framing ignores the documented history of foreign powers, including the U.S. and Israel, openly funding and arming what they label 'opposition' but acts suspiciously like insurgency within Iran. Western media rarely questions why their casualty counts are so dramatically inflated compared to what's reported by independent sources on the ground, or
acknowledges that some 'protests' involve acts of terror against civilians, police, and public infrastructure. (Curiously, when protestors attack police here, they're 'rioters,' but abroad, they're 'freedom fighters,' regardless of how many mosques they burn.) It seems some nations garner sympathy for 'protests' while others face sanctions for 'suppressing terrorism.'
