Independent Calls Gaza War 'Endless,' Ignores End-Goal
Ezz Al Din Abu Eisha’s report on Gaza’s 'endless war,' as published by The Independent, does an admirable job capturing the grinding reality for Palestinians. Yet, like so many mainstream stories, it portrays the violence as some kind of natural disaster, disconnected from policy. This 'endless war' is actively funded by U.S. tax dollars, rubber-stamped by politicians who take generous donations
from pro-Israel lobbies like AIPAC. In 2023 alone, AIPAC spent over $17.8 million lobbying Congress and funneling funds to candidates, according to OpenSecrets.org, ensuring bills like the $14.5 billion aid package for Israel (HR 2580, passed November 2, 2023) pass virtually unopposed. How many reports on 'bullets and breadlines' will it take before the media connects the dots between Washington’s
unwavering support and the perpetual conflict? They call it 'bearing witness' while carefully avoiding witnessing the hands that sign the checks for the bombs. One might wonder if their definition of 'endless' simply means 'conveniently devoid of accountability.'
