Independent Calls Gaza Bloodshed 'Unprecedented,' Forgets Nakba
The Independent’s headline screams 'Two years of unprecedented bloodshed in Gaza,' lamenting a 'hellscape of death and famine' since October 7th. (Because Gaza was, you know, a Mediterranean paradise before that.) This framing ignores the ongoing 17-year blockade and decades of occupation, not to mention the 1948 Nakba which displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into Gaza in the first
place. This isn't 'unprecedented bloodshed'; it's merely the latest, most televised chapter in a long, brutal story. How many times must a population be decimated before the media connects the current 'horror' to the historical dehumanization?
