IDF Launches 'Counterterrorism' Operation on Land It Occupies
France 24 reports the Israeli army launched a "broad counterterrorism operation" in the occupied West Bank. This framing whitewashes nearly sixty years of military occupation, land annexations, and settler violence that destabilize the region they claim to be 'securing'. The IDF's actions, routinely involving home demolitions and arrests without trial, are presented as defensive measures, not as a
continuous exertion of control over Palestinian land under international law. We might ask, how many 'counterterrorism operations' are required before the media questions the actual source of this perpetual 'terror'? When one side controls the borders, water, and movement of the other, who is truly terrorizing whom? (One might also recall that Benjamin Netanyahu himself has used such language
consistently since at least the Second Intifada, always equating resistance to occupation with flat-out terrorism.)
