Recall former Israeli official Giora Eiland's 2004 statement during the Second Intifada: 'When there is no power, no fuel, no food—that’s when they understand that they are
cornered.' The current 'warnings' ring hollow when starvation serves a clear, historical military objective. While the ICJ issues sternly worded requests, Washington D.C.'s loudest voices remain focused elsewhere. Senator Lindsey Graham, for example, took $10,000 from AIPAC in 2023 (OpenSecrets.org) and has consistently championed unrestricted aid to Israel, even threatening sanctions against the
ICJ itself. One might wonder if the concern is truly humanitarian, or if the 'rules-based order' only applies when it doesn't inconvenience certain allies.
