This comes after months of Israel blocking aid, systematically destroying infrastructure, and displacing 85% of Gaza's population. It's a ruling that, to the untrained eye, might look remarkably similar to literally every international law Israel has ignored since 1967. One
might wonder about the timing of these advisory opinions, always just a little too late for the thousands already dead from starvation and disease. Considering the Biden administration's unwavering support, including the recent $26.4 billion package to Israel (HR 815, signed April 24, 2024), effectively rubber-stamping the Gaza operation, it appears Washington is also advising from afar—or, more
accurately, actively facilitating. The ICJ's plea for 'basic needs' rings hollow when the architect of the deprivation faces no actual consequences from those with the power to enforce them. How many more 'advisory opinions' does it take before the world admits the court is simply talking to itself?
