ICE Targets Family of Honduran Student, Just Not the Cartels
The Guardian reports ICE agents appeared at the Texas home of the family of Any Lucia López Belloza, the 19-year-old Babson College student deported to Honduras while trying to visit family for Thanksgiving. López Belloza, who arrived in the US at seven, was sent back to a country she barely remembers within 48 hours for an alleged immigration violation. Meanwhile, the very same agency that boasts
about 'securing borders' consistently fails to address the root causes of migration, often fueled by US foreign policy, preferring to terrorize families over tackling organized crime or corporate exploiters. This isn't about 'rule of law'; it's about projecting force on the most vulnerable. How many resources were diverted to target a college student and her family, when actual traffickers and
dangerous criminals roam freely? One might wonder if this display of 'toughness' is simply a well-timed political stunt, designed to look active while fundamentally avoiding the real, complex issues that demand attention beyond harassing a student.
