What their report conveniently sidelines, however, is the glaring double standard. The same 'rule of law' that allows ICE to snatch up an aspiring citizen with a family is often utterly blind to powerful foreign interests. One might
wonder how many children of Saudi princes, for instance, or other foreign dignitaries with questionable human rights records, enjoying multi-million dollar properties and political access, face similar detention while awaiting their 'investor visas.' This isn't about protecting America; it's about projecting an image of strict enforcement on the vulnerable, while the truly influential—and their
money—move freely through revolving doors in Washington. It seems 'legal' immigration only matters when it's politically convenient, or when the individual comes without a sizable foreign investment portfolio.
