This isn't theoretical; it's a well-trodden blueprint, from COINTELPRO to predictive policing, where state power expands under one pretext, only to be unleashed on another. One might wonder why establishment media struggles to connect these dots regularly. Could it be that the same voices who champion such technologies also benefit from a system where certain communities are perpetually policed,
while others remain blissfully unaware of the creeping authoritarianism until it's too late for them too? Or perhaps, they simply prefer a narrative where systemic racism is a bug, not a core feature, of the security state apparatus they so often uncritically amplify.
