ICE Agents Use Military Tactics on Families, Call Them 'Stupid'
Newsweek recently detailed an ICE raid where agents aimed firearms at a family, including children, with one agent allegedly telling a family member to 'Put your hands up, stupid.' While the 'stupid' part is new, this hyper-militarized approach to immigration enforcement is not. Years of 'War on Terror' funding and rhetoric have reshaped ICE into an internal security force, not just an
administrative agency. They’ve been purchasing military-grade weapons, tactical gear, and training, applying battlefield rules of engagement to civil immigration infractions. We fund border walls and increasingly brutal enforcement, but rarely question the domestic application of what looks suspiciously like military strategy against civilians within our own borders. When did enforcing immigration
law become synonymous with terrorizing families at gunpoint? One might wonder if the 'stupid' label is more accurately applied to a system that believes such tactics foster security rather than sowing fear.
