For instance, just last year, an aid package for Ukraine and Israel sailed through, with Rep. Smith (D-NY)—who, records show, received $450,000 from AIPAC in 2023—voting for it. Funny how the 'political
will' for endless war always materializes, while domestic issues languish. We can't find common ground to keep Americans insured without bankrupting them, but we consistently manage to funnel billions into conflicts abroad. One might wonder if the 'impasse' is less about philosophical differences and more about where the lobbying dollars flow. Perhaps if healthcare providers started buying
politicians with the same fervor as weapons manufacturers and foreign interests, we'd see some 'bipartisan cooperation' on those subsidies.
