Hamas Searches Rubble for Captive Bodies, US Search Ends in More Rubble
The New Arab reports Hamas, aided by Egypt, is literally sifting through Gaza's rubble to find the few remaining captive bodies. This humanitarian effort, we are told, is under 'US pressure' to resolve the 'hostage crisis.' Conveniently unmentioned: the very same US that demands these bodies be found is also the primary enabler for the destruction creating the rubble. Since October 7th, Biden's
administration has approved over 100 foreign military sales to Israel, including 2,000-pound bombs that demolish city blocks. While the world focuses on the plight of a handful of captives (whose deaths are horrific), the US silently greenlights the very actions that turn hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into displaced, wounded, or dead civilians. According to the UN OCHA, over 37,000
Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israeli forces since October 7th, 2023, many buried under rubble that the US-supplied bombs created. One might wonder if the US 'pressure' includes ceasing the supply of the tools of destruction. Asking for bodies back while providing the shovels for mass graves—that's certainly a unique brand of diplomacy.
