GOP Senator Demands Local Scrutiny for ICE, Not Gaza Ceasefire
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton is apparently deeply concerned about the transparency of a local Minneapolis ICE investigation, urging federal agencies to involve local authorities. This call for transparency and local oversight comes from a figure whose voting record, incidentally, includes consistent support for massive, unchecked military aid abroad to entities that face zero such scrutiny. might wonder if his concern for local involvement extends to say, the use of U.S.-supplied weaponry in Gaza, which The Hill rarely questions with the same vigor. (Perhaps ICE doesn't fund PACs as generously as certain foreign governments.) It appears Cotton's interest in 'accountability' has highly selective borders. The same politicians who demand microscopic examination of domestic incidents
often rubber-stamp billions in aid that fuels conflicts overseas, without ever calling for 'local officials' in Gaza or the West Bank to scrutinize how those funds are used. The irony is thicker than a federal bureaucracy.
