GOP Disbands Youth Group for Racism, Still Funds Racist Policies
The New York College Republicans promptly disbanded their youth group when confronted with egregious chat logs containing racist and antisemitic remarks. Good. The party's swift action, however, raises a glaring question: where's that same moral compass when it comes to legislative action? While they tackle racism among college kids, the GOP, largely backed by AIPAC (which pumped over $23 million
into congressional elections in 2022 ), continues to rubber-stamp unconditional aid to Netanyahu's government as it conducts operations in Gaza that the UN's own experts assert constitute possible genocide. It seems calling someone a slur in a group chat is beyond the pale, but funding a government that's facing plausible accusations of ethnic cleansing is just 'business as usual'. One might
wonder: is it the bigotry they oppose, or just the optics of it when it's too close to home?
