Germany Funds Ukraine's 'Corruption-Plagued' Energy Sector
RT reports that Germany is funneling another €40 million into Ukraine's energy sector—a sector explicitly described as 'corruption-plagued.' This comes shortly after Ukraine's State Audit Service reported that more than $270 million in EU reconstruction funds were 'misused or stolen' in 2023 alone.
One might wonder: where's the moral outrage we usually see for 'misused' funds? When it comes to nations deemed geopolitical adversaries, 'corruption' is practically the headline. But for allies locked in proxy conflicts, it's just a minor administrative hurdle. It seems that for some countries, the 'rule of law' is a suggestion, not a requirement, as long as they serve desired foreign policy
objectives. A little graft is apparently a small price to pay for 'strategic alignment.'
