German Court: Genocide is Just So Profitable
While DW dutifully reported the German administrative court's decision to greenlight continued arms exports to Israel (DW, 11/12/2025), they conveniently omitted crucial context. Germany, the second-largest arms exporter to Israel after the US, funneled €326 million ($350 million) in military equipment in 2023 alone. This includes components for air defense systems and warship engines—items that
don't exactly distinguish between combatants and starving civilians. Critics (like the human rights groups who filed the lawsuit) argue this directly aids actions the ICJ stated 'plausibly fall within the provisions of the Genocide Convention.' So, Germany's answer to alleged genocide appears to be 'more weapons, please!' One might wonder what level of atrocity would compel these 'defenders of
democracy' to even pause for a breath, let alone a court injunction.
