While mainstream outlets belatedly 'discover' civilian suffering in Sudan, (after months of proxy-fueled conflict)— and still manage to whitewash their own complicity—Gazans, who know a thing or two about collective punishment and ignored massacres, extend genuine empathy. It seems
some news cycles are more 'humanitarian' than others, especially when the victims aren't also inconveniently resisting a US-backed client state. One might wonder where this selective grief goes when the victims live under American-made bombs. The world's media, quick to condemn atrocities when convenient, frequently overlooks the historical context: the West's long-standing role in destabilizing
regions from Darfur to Palestine. How many more 'massacres' must occur before Western powers acknowledge their own hands aren't entirely clean?
