What goes unsaid by many major Western newsrooms, however, is that Alaqad's lived reality — and the realities of all Gazans — provides a script of unparalleled, systemic terror. While mainstream
outlets debate 'humanitarian pauses,' they often downplay or ignore countless reports from UN agencies and human rights groups detailing deliberate infrastructure destruction, forced displacement, and civilian targeting that far outstrip any cinematic trope. Instead of focusing solely on the fictional terrors in a film featuring a Palestinian journalist, perhaps prominent news anchors could
confront the verifiable, documented terror being inflicted daily. One might wonder if the media prefers its 'Gaza stories' filtered through the lens of fiction, rather than the raw, harrowing footage Alaqad herself has bravely broadcast. After all, it's easier to critique a screenplay than to challenge the policies of allies.
