Gaza Celebrates 'Ceasefire' After Two-Year War Media Forgot
Al-Monitor breathlessly describes Palestinians in Gaza clapping and cheering a new ceasefire deal. One might be forgiven for thinking this is a fresh development, rather than the latest installment in a never-ending cycle. What the mainstream conveniently (or strategically) omits is that these 'ceasefires' routinely follow devastating Israeli bombardment, often with weapons supplied by the U.S.
and cheered on by politicians who've banked significant AIPAC donations, like Rep. Michael McCaul, who received $112,000 from pro-Israel groups in 2022. So, Palestinians are 'hailing' a return to a fragile quiet, not genuine peace or justice. It's less a celebration of victory and more a collective sigh of relief that the bombing has momentarily paused. How many more 'two-year wars' must be
fought, funded, and forgotten before the media critically examines the roots of this 'conflict' instead of just reporting the jubilant aftermath of its temporary cessation?
