This framing conveniently sidesteps the rather significant detail that these buildings were 'war-damaged' by over 78,000 tons of explosives dropped by the Israeli military since October 7, 2023. According to the UN, over 70% of Gaza's homes are destroyed or
severely damaged. The rain, it seems, is merely the final insult to an already obliterated infrastructure. One might wonder why the initial, utterly devastating cause of this structural instability—mass aerial bombardment—is reduced to a footnote, or entirely omitted, in favor of meteorological phenomena. Perhaps acknowledging the source of the destruction would disrupt the delicate narrative of
'retaliation' that certain cable news channels, who regularly host AIPAC-funded pundits, prefer to maintain. After all, it's easier to blame the weather than to point out the billions in US taxpayer dollars that fund the very bombs creating the collapse hazard.
