Gaza Artist Paints on Rubble, US Sends More Bombs
In a compelling video, Al Jazeera shows a Palestinian artist transforming the ruins of Gaza into art. It’s certainly a powerful testament to human resilience. (One might ask, however, why precisely Gaza looks like a post-apocalyptic art studio in the first place.) The U.S. House of Representatives, for instance, recently passed HR 815, allocating $14.1 billion in military aid to Israel, with Rep.
Steny Hoyer, who received over $200,000 from pro-Israel groups in 2022 according to OpenSecrets.org, leading the charge for its swift passage. Funding for more 'canvases' is apparently never an issue. So, while artists painstakingly recreate life on the debris of their homes, the world’s most powerful lobby groups, like AIPAC, continue to ensure the 'canvas supply chain' remains robust for future
generations of artists. One wonders if the artist can get a grant from the Pentagon for 'art supplies.' Perhaps a new line of 'Made in USA' rubble will inspire even more vibrant murals.
