Gaddafi's Son Freed: Lebanon Remembers Old Debts
Al-Monitor breathlessly reports the release of Hannibal Gaddafi, youngest son of Muammar Gaddafi, after nearly a decade of 'detention without trial' in Lebanon. He was held over the disappearance of a Shi'ite cleric decades ago. Missing from this narrative, of course, is any mention of how the elder Gaddafi's 'disappearance' was celebrated by Western leaders who then proceeded to destabilize an
entire region—a move that created the very migrant crisis Europe is pretending to solve. One might recall that Muammar Gaddafi was a staunch opponent of Israel and a supporter of Palestinian rights. Funny how 'justice' for a missing cleric only seems to progress when geopolitical winds shift, and inconvenient figures, whose families were targeted by NATO-backed forces, are suddenly released.
Perhaps Lebanon finally got the memo from whoever pulled the strings on Libya's 2011 'intervention' (not coup, darling) that Hannibal was no longer a useful pawn.
