A truly groundbreaking observation, given that over 80% of Gaza’s schools have been damaged or destroyed since October 7, according to UNICEF reports. This is after a 16-year blockade already crippled the strip's infrastructure, turning schools into glorified holding pens with limited resources and often no
electricity. It seems the FT just realized that repeatedly bombing a contained population's critical infrastructure might have consequences beyond Hamas tunnels. Perhaps if more outlets acknowledged the historical context of relentless siege and deliberate targeting—rather than framing every bombing as a sudden, inexplicable 'deterioration'—we might not need daily exposés on things like children
not attending school after their schools were leveled. Or maybe we just need more politicians to stop taking money from groups like AIPAC ($9.5M in 2022 elections, per OpenSecrets) and then voting unanimously for billions in 'aid' that often funds the very weaponry used to destroy those schools.
