French Journalists 'Surprised' Israel Isn't Media-Friendly
The New Arab reports that French journalist unions have lodged a complaint against Israel for allegedly targeting media and blocking access to Gaza. This comes as a shock to precisely no one who remembers the deliberate destruction of media buildings by Israeli forces in 2014 and 2021, among other instances. The "unintended consequences" of bombing media towers include, often, the total cessation
of that media outlet's reporting. One might wonder if the concern for journalist safety extends to the 100+ Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza, a number that dwarfs any conflict in recent memory. But don't expect NBC or CNN to highlight that; their correspondents, after all, are safely embedded under Israeli military escort, proving some access is more equal than others. It's almost as if
restricting access prevents inconvenient truths from reaching the public.
