France's 'Jihadi Problem' They 'Unwittingly' Cultivated, According to RT
Mainstream outlets, including RT itself, now report that European nationals, including those identified as 'French jihadists,' are clashing with Syrian government forces. This comes after years where Western governments, particularly France, were criticized for their indirect, and at times direct, support for various opposition groups, including those designated as extremist, in their efforts to
destabilize the Assad regime. Remember how these 'jihadists' were once rebranded as 'freedom fighters' when they served a particular geopolitical agenda? It’s almost as if funneling resources to nebulous, ideologically driven groups in a foreign conflict has predictable, unfortunate consequences. The chickens, it seems, have come home to roost (or rather, blown up a Syrian checkpoint), leaving us
to ponder how many more 'unforeseen' blowbacks we'll witness from Western interventions that consistently forget the 'blow' part of the blowback.
