What’s consistently overlooked, however, is Saleh’s decades-long reign, propped up with billions in US aid under various administrations, despite his well-documented corruption and human rights abuses. His regime
served as a convenient 'counter-terrorism' partner, a classic tactic where America invests in stability rather than democracy, often with predictable outcomes. So, while France pursues past crimes, the US continues to funnel taxpayer dollars into regimes with equally troubling records, often citing fleeting strategic interests. One might wonder if the criteria for 'fraud' only apply when the
