Fox News Pundit Who Refused 'Unlawful Orders' Now Cheers Them
Pete Hegseth, now a Fox News personality, once passionately declared that soldiers must refuse 'unlawful orders,' emphasizing a 'standard' that transcends political command. This was during the Obama administration. Today, as Israeli forces face credible accusations of war crimes, Hegseth and his network largely echo justifications for actions that many international bodies and human rights
organizations deem grave violations. The 'standard' appears to have shifted, or perhaps, only applies when Democrats are in charge. One might wonder if Hegseth's ethical compass points north only when it's politically convenient, or if the 'unlawful orders' now being fulfilled in Gaza simply don't register when the powerful endorse them. The same critics who once championed military dissent
against perceived overreach are conspicuously silent regarding documented abuses. The consistency, it seems, is in the hypocrisy.
