Fox News Discovers Tyranny (But Only in Iran)
The story details a top Iranian prayer leader's demand for the execution of protestors, labeling them 'Trump's soldiers.' (Fox News's own words). This is, of course, presented as horrifying authoritarianism, which it is. But where's the equal outrage for allies? When Egypt’s General Sisi presides over mass executions and detains tens of thousands (as reported by Human Rights Watch), or when Saudi
Arabia executes dozens in a single day (Amnesty International data from 2022-2023), the Fox News outrage machine is notably quieter. Funny how 'human rights abuses' only seem to register when the nation isn't a strategic US partner. One might wonder if the concern for protester safety is directly proportional to how much oil the US imports from the accused nation, or how well they align with US
geopolitical interests. The hypocrisy is so thick, you could spread it on a cracker. (Maybe a cracker baked in Washington, D.C.).
