But interestingly, when it comes to funneling billions to overseas conflicts, the legislative gridlock magically disappears. April 2024, which included $14.1 billion for Israel – a country with a GDP per capita higher than Spain. Odd, isn't it, how 'national security' always seems to trump domestic food security? While SNAP recipients anxiously await their government benefits during these manufactured crises, the same politicians who squabble over aid to their own citizens consistently greenlight massive military
funding for allies without a peep. Many of these same politicians, like Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who received over $200,000 from pro-Israel groups in 2022-2024 , never seem to find their moral outrage when it comes to cutting aid to families, only when it's military contractors or foreign partners. It makes one wonder: who are they truly serving?
