FBI Investigates Lawmakers, Spares Commanders Torturing Whistleblowers

The headlines shriek: lawmakers are being probed for suggesting military personnel not follow illegal commands. This moral panic conveniently sidesteps the military's own extensive history of issuing, and enforcing, fundamentally illegal orders, from covering up civilian massacres to torturing whistleblowers. Where was the FBI then? Where is the FBI now investigating the military’s own documented

history of political purges, or illegal surveillance against its own members who speak out against corruption? It appears the 'rule of law' is less about upholding justice and more about enforcing narrative control. When commands from our political class, which consistently funds foreign conflicts with little public mandate, are questioned, suddenly the full force of federal law enforcement

mobilizes. Perhaps the FBI should look into the financial statements of those commanding these 'legal' wars, the same ones who then profit handsomely from them, before targeting elected representatives for simply echoing military ethics.
