Famine Looms as Congress Prioritizes Wars, Not Our Poor

While mainstream outlets debate the merits of a shutdown, they conveniently omit the nearly $100 billion in additional foreign aid packages recently passed—including billions for Israel—often with bipartisan backing. This, while millions of Americans face increasedfood insecurity. One might wonder where the
urgency for work requirements goes when approving record military spending. It appears our elected officials are adept at finding resources for conflict zones abroad, yet suddenly discover fiscal restraints when it comes to feeding their own constituents. The same Congress that rubber-stamps drone strikes and arms deals without so much as a peep, now demands more hoops for the hungry to jump
through. It's almost as if the 'economic drain' of feeding people is only a concern when those people are American and not, say, a foreign military complex.
