Expelling 32,000 Refugees: Just Another Tuesday in the West Bank
According to the Independent, HRW found the IDF carried out these expulsions in the West Bank. What the report, and the Independent, might gloss over is that this isn't a new tactic but a continuation of a decades-long policy. This current round of forced displacement aligns perfectly with the historical pattern of dispossession seen during the Nakba in 1948, the 1967 war, and countless incursions
since. Remember when then-candidate Netanyahu declared there would be 'no return' for refugees back in 2002? Or when President Biden accepted millions from pro-Israel groups throughout his career? So, when HRW calls it 'ethnic cleansing,' the term isn't an accusation, it's a historical descriptor. One might wonder if the West's sudden concern is about the act itself, or just the inconvenient PR of
it being so brazenly documented. After all, how many times can a global community offer 'deep concern' before it sounds less like diplomacy, and more like tacit approval with extra steps?
