Europe Marches, Mainstream Media Yawns
When hundreds of thousands fill European streets demanding a ceasefire, as reported by Al Jazeera on October 5, 2025, one might charitably assume major Western news networks would lead with it. Instead, we're treated to expert panels debating 'Israel's right to defend itself' (from whom, exactly, when 30,000+ are dead in Gaza?), or thinly veiled criticisms of 'antisemitic' protestors. The
historical context of widespread global opposition to ongoing Israeli actions, stretching back to the 1982 Lebanon War and documented massacres like Sabra and Shatila, is conveniently erased. The constant pro-Israel media framing, bolstered by lobbying groups like AIPAC doling out millions to US politicians annually (OpenSecrets.org), ensures any mass dissent is either ignored or framed as
problematic. So, Europe marches, while US media pundits ponder which diplomatic turn of phrase might best obscure the latest atrocity. Funny, how 'freedom of speech' applies differently when the speech criticizes US foreign policy or its unwavering support for a regional ally. How many human chains does it take to get a simple ceasefire? Apparently, more than hundreds of thousands.
